Appointments
Make an appointment either virtually or in-person. You can also drop in, reschedule, or cancel an appointment!
Whether you planned ahead or realized at the last minute that you have a question, our tutors are here to help. Zoom is available If you’d rather meet virtually. You can make an appointment or just drop in.
The tips below will help you make the most of your visit with a peer tutor:
Peer tutors might work with multiple students (both in person and online) at one time. Please be patient if your tutor is working with other students.
Make sure to attend class. Peer tutors cannot provide you with information from lectures and class activities. You need to make sure you attend your classes and not expect that participating in tutoring will substitute for class.
Bring your textbook. If your textbook is online, please bring a computer, or have it up on your phone. If you don’t have a device, and you meet your tutor in person, you can log into one of our computers using your StarID and password.
Bring study sheets, notes from class, Power Points—anything you use as a reference to do your homework. If you have a laptop or other device, bring it. (We have outlets in our tables.) If you don’t have a device to bring, you can use your StarID and password to log into one of our computers.
Attempt the problems or homework first. Our tutors will be more helpful if they can see the work you have done so far so they can “see” your thought process.
Be prepared to get study help. While our tutors love to help students, they also love to see you master the class on your own. To do that, you might need to change how you study, approach problems and take notes. Be ready to answer questions about how you study and to get advice about how to study more effectively.
If you get virtual tutoring: you will meet with your tutor over Zoom. If you know how to share your screen and if you have your camera on during your session, your tutoring will go more smoothly. Also, please locate any virtual documents you might need before your tutoring session so you don’t spend tutoring time looking for the documents you need.
