This psychology course is an introduction to the concepts and issues surrounding death and dying. It examines these issues from a theoretical perspective with attention to ethical and moral issues from a multicultural perspective and the impact of death, dying and bereavement throughout the lifespan.

Learning Outcomes
Understand the evolution of death and dying from a historical perspective.
Understand cultural similarities and differences as they relate to attitudes about death, and as they are encountered by persons of various ages, race, gender and class.
Demonstrate an understanding of death and dying as it pertains to different stages of human development, including childhood, adolescence and adulthood.
Understand the process of coping with death to include the distinction of grief, loss, bereavement and mourning.
Understand the legal, ethical and moral issues of death and dying.
